Regis’s leading range of food producing animal products is grouped into a number of key therapeutic areas.
To aid you with diagnosis, treatment and monitoring, we have developed materials, education and information around these core areas. We also aim to help you to comply with the increasing pressure to reduce use of antibiotics.
Locomotion
Lameness in food producing animals is an important animal health and welfare problem. Mobility problems could have a negative impact on the production and reproduction of these animals which can lead to disastrous economic effects.
Digital Dermatitis
Digital Dermatitis (DD) was first described in the UK in 1988, and has since spread so that it is present on almost every UK dairy farm and is the most commonly recorded cause of lameness. It is a skin infection of the foot, mainly on the bulbs of the heel, but sometimes at the coronary band or between the claws. It is caused by a type of bacteria known as treponemes. There are many different strains which cause DD lesions.
To support you in the treatment of Digital Dermatitis, we have developed a Best Practice Treatment Guide and poster.
Organic bottom sludge reduction
Organic sludge includes uneaten feed, fecal particles, dead algae and other organic residues which settle down to the pond bottom creating high biological oxygen demand (BOD). Reduction of the bottom sludge is essential to prevent accumulation of ammonia, nitrite, nitrate and H2S which are toxic to shrimp health. Oxygen supply using mechanical aeration is essential.
Regis offers a combination of probiotics, enzymes and supplements designed to break down these organic wastes: protein, lipids, carbohydrates like starch, cellulose, chitin, pectin and release valuable nutrients for their growth. Regis probiotics helps to keep the pond water healthy, promotes biofloc formation, inhibit the pathogenic population and enhance productivity.
Metabolics
In addition to diseases related to the production of milk, eggs and meat, or management factors, such as stabling and food and water intake, many diseases develop due to alterations in metabolism.
The most common disorders result from a negative balance in the nutrition and the difference between metabolic diseases and nutritional deficiencies is often very subtle. Metabolic disorders are often acute states while nutritional deficiencies are long-term and steady states.
Water Medication
The core products in our water medication portfolio come under our RegisStab® range.
RegisStab® is a premium range of lactose free water-soluble products with a unique formula providing optimal balance between solubility and stability.
The successful use of water medication is not only impacted by the use of high quality products such as those in the RegisStab® range. It is also determined by conditions. A good and stable infrastructure, adequate maintenance of the drinking water system and the quality of the drinking water are all key factors.
In addition, using the right dose is crucial which is why Regis has created the RegisStab® Calculator to help you determine the correct amount of product to use.
